What Climate Concerned Americans Should do Next

For those of us who care about climate change, yesterday’s results were devastating.  We’ve just gotten America on the path to solutions and now the hope and prospects to keep America and the world safe, thriving and healthy will be trampled on.

The climate movement was built on the need for critical technical solutions to reduce emissions.  We can take a victory lap on those. We need to deploy now.  We have solutions on the shelf now – so competitive that America is putting up huge barriers – tariffs on clean energy (solar panels) and electric vehicles – to keep competitors out of our markets.

We need to build public support and political will to move society toward effective solutions.  We can do this.  We need to shift focus toward empowering local action – our best line of defense over the next four years. 

At ecoAmerica we’ve built up a network of national leaders (over 200) and organizations (over 110) that reach most Americans.  These organizations and leaders care about climate, but it’s not their primary mission.  Most look to us for guidance and leadership. 

We are 100% focused on people, and believe that every responsible individual, foundation, or NGO should commit to making local climate action and advocacy a top level priority. 

Our problem is bigger than climate change.  Yet, climate change will be the dominant driver of wellbeing in our future. Success on climate, will strengthen democracy, prosperity, and peace globally.
